[UPDATE] Irish Walker 2010 is just a little maltier, a little sweeter and with a slightly higher alcohol content than previous vintages. The 2010 version, distinguished by its green and gold label, is 9.8% abv.
Irish Walker is an English-Style Barley Wine. It has malty finish with a pronounced fruity quality. Irish Walker is dry hopped with a generous amount of English hops yielding a wonderfully spicy hop bouquet and flavor with less bitterness. The color is a deep mahogany. The body is full.
Irish Walker is being poured in a 12oz glass, the server should remember that the alcohol level is 7.7% alc/vol and therefore should be careful not to over-serve someone. The smooth balance and maltiness of Irish Walker could be deceiving for some drinkers.
[Update 1/10/2011] Irish Walker 2010 is no longer available through the brewery, although many retailers have it in stock. Irish Walker 2011 will be released later this spring.
